From gas, hydropower data in daily life to medical data, education data, meteorological data, etc., public data is everywhere.
Just at the beginning of this year, my country’s policy system for the development and utilization of public data resources was initially formed. While doing a good job in data sharing and data openness, professional forces can be introduced for some sensitive high-value data to manage and process public data to form corresponding data products and services. This innovative model has a new term., called “public data authorization operation”. Under this model, party and government agencies and institutions that directly hold or manage public data resources must register public data just like land and other factor resources.

Take the traceability data of medical insurance drugs registered this time as an example. Once institutions in need obtain these data through the platform, the value of these data can be released in different application scenarios.
For example, regulatory authorities can use medical insurance drug traceability data to more efficiently discover illegal activities such as backflow of drugs, cross-dressing changes, and counterfeit drugs.
For another example, by making good use of medical insurance drug traceability data, pharmaceutical companies can better promote new drug research and development while further optimizing sales strategies.
More types of public data will be registered in the future
The reporter learned from the National Data Bureau that on the first day of the platform’s launch, except for the National Medical Insurance Bureau, government departments, institutions and related enterprises that came to register were all active. Local institutions such as the Beijing City Big Data Center have also registered a series of public data covering social security, real estate, patents, and government procurement on the platform.

There is great potential for the development of multiple “spatio-temporal” data in urban governance and other fields
Carrying out the registration of public data resources is an institutional innovation in my country to increase efforts to develop and utilize public data. At present, the application of public data is accelerating, while demand is also growing rapidly.
● Public data + urban transportation. By integrating transportation public data to optimize traffic lights configuration, the urban congestion rate will be reduced;
● Public data + housekeeping services. By gathering data from human resources and social security, health and other departments, consumers can verify social security, physical examination and other information of domestic workers;
