At the beginning of this year, DeepSeek, a domestically produced large model that emerged, emerged strongly from the circle relying on its open source model and cost advantages, once again igniting the AI boom. Companies large and small have publicly announced their large models or AI applications, and local governments have made efforts to seize the artificial intelligence industry. After the launch of the artificial intelligence + action in 2024 was included in the government work report, artificial intelligence + has once again become a hot topic at the ongoing National Two Sessions.
Focusing on the energy field, Liu Hanyuan, deputy to the National People’s Congress, vice chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and chairman of the Board of Directors of Tongwei Group, suggested strengthening cross-field cooperation and innovation, promoting the deep integration of AI technology with renewable energy, energy storage, electric vehicles, etc., and jointly Promote the construction and development of new power systems. rdquo;
In recent years, global geopolitical tensions have intensified, and the country attaches great importance to energy independence and energy security. With the acceleration of the global energy transformation process and the implementation of my country’s dual-carbon goals, renewable energy has developed rapidly, the installed capacity has achieved a significant increase, and the transformation from supplementary energy to main energy is accelerating.
Data shows that as of the end of 2024, the installed capacity of renewable energy (excluding hydropower), represented by wind power and photovoltaics, has reached 1.45 billion kilowatts, exceeding the installed capacity of thermal power for the first time; the cumulative installed capacity of wind power and photovoltaics has reached 1.41 billion kilowatts, completed 6 years ahead of schedule. China’s goal of reaching China’s total installed capacity of wind power and solar power by 2030, promised at the Climate Ambition Summit. In 2024, photovoltaic and wind power generation will total 1.83 trillion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 27%, accounting for nearly 20% of total power generation.
“Renewable energy is inherently intermittent, volatile and seasonal, and the high proportion of access to the power grid objectively increases the difficulty of ensuring power supply. Historically, my country’s power grid has shown the characteristics of retransmission and light transmission. In the past, the power grids established for centralized power generation and centralized power transmission and the traditional source-driven mode have no longer been able to adapt to the access of a large proportion of renewable energy, and the power system has insufficient regulation capabilities., resulting in increased safe operation risks of the power grid. rdquo; Liu Hanyuan analyzed that the construction of my country’s power grid also lags significantly behind the development of renewable energy. Many problems in the transmission and distribution links have made consumption problems increasingly prominent, becoming the main bottleneck affecting my country’s energy transformation and hindering the development and utilization level of renewable energy.
Liu Hanyuan said that it is urgent to accelerate the transformation and upgrading of the power system and accelerate the construction of a new power system with collaborative interaction between source, network, load and storage. In response to these issues, Liu Hanyuan put forward four suggestions:
First, it is recommended to speed up the construction of UHV transmission channels and cross-provincial and cross-regional channels.Further accelerate the construction of the planned UHV, and appropriately advance the planning and launch of new channel construction. With my country’s current national strength, financial resources, and infrastructure capabilities, it is enough to support the simultaneous construction of more than 10 UHV units every year. As an infrastructure to support the development of renewable energy, it can only be advanced and not delayed. Even if it is idle for a short time or has low utilization rate after completion, it is better than waiting for transportation channels for large scenic bases. Therefore, advanced construction is necessary and the benefits outweigh the disadvantages. At the same time, it is necessary to speed up the construction of cross-provincial and cross-regional transmission channels, improve the mutual assistance capabilities of power grids, make full use of the adjustment capabilities of neighboring provinces and regions, and effectively increase consumption.
Second, it is recommended to strongly support the development of source network load storage projects and introduce policies to encourage the investment and construction of new demonstration projects such as smart microgrids and virtual power plants.By building intelligent microgrids, we can achieve optimal energy allocation and supply and demand balance in local areas, aggregate distributed power supply and load resources through virtual power plants, participate in power grid peak regulation and demand response, enhance the flexibility and reliability of power grid operations, and thereby improve The overall consumption and economy of distributed projects provide strong support for new power systems.
Third, it is recommended to accelerate the construction of my country’s comprehensive energy storage system and improve the regulation capabilities of the power system.“During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, we will further promote the construction of pumped energy storage, new energy storage and other projects, accelerate the research and formulation of relevant supporting policies and measures for electric vehicles to participate in power grid energy storage, and build a comprehensive energy storage system with pumped energy storage and new energy storage as the main focus, electric vehicles and other energy storage forms supplemented by a variety of energy storage forms. Continue to promote the flexible transformation of coal and electricity and improve the ability to regulate traditional energy.
Fourth, it is recommended to use AI to empower new power systems.Strengthen cross-field cooperation and innovation, promote the deep integration of AI technology with renewable energy, energy storage, electric vehicles, etc., and jointly promote the construction and development of new power systems.
