Arthur Hayes: Institutionscarry tradeOr cause Bitcoin to fall to $70,000

BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes posted on social media that Bitcoin may be about to enter a decline range. Hedge funds that hold large numbers of iShares Bitcoin ETF (IBIT) long ETFs and short CME futures to earn gains higher than their cost of capital and short-term U.S. bonds.

Hayes pointed out that if the basis narrows due to a fall in Bitcoin prices, these funds may sell IBIT during U.S. trading hours and cover their CME futures positions. These funds are currently profitable, and considering that the basis is close to U.S. bond yields, they will close their positions during U.S. trading hours to achieve profits. Bitcoin prices are expected to fall to US$70,000.

Ethereum Pectra upgrade was launched on the Holesky test network, but failed to complete final confirmation

According to CoinDesk, Ethereum’s latest upgrade, Pectra, was activated on the Holesky test network on the evening of February 24, but failed to complete the final confirmation as expected. The upgrade includes 11 important improvement proposals (EIPs), of which the core proposal EIP-7702 aims to improve the user experience of crypto wallets, and EIP-7251 increases the maximum verifier pledge limit from 32 ETH to 2,048 ETH.

Currently, Ethereum developers are investigating the reasons for failing to complete the final confirmation through the Eth R D Discord channel.& The next round of testing was originally scheduled to take place on March 5 at the Sepolia Testnet, but Christine Kim, vice president of Galaxy research, said the development team may delay testing based on the severity of the problem.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time similar problems have occurred in the Ethereum test network. In January 2024, the final confirmation of the Dencun upgrade was also not completed on the Goerli test website. The development team will determine the specific date for the upgrade of the main network after the testing of the two test networks is completed.
