GuShiio.com learned that Solana core developers Max Resnick and Ashwin Sekar jointly released a draft SIMD-0257, proposing to remove voting fees from the Solana network and optimize incentive compatibility for timely voting points to improve network security and verifier participation. Current voting fees are used to limit the size of validators and protect against DoS attacks. Other parts of the proposal revolve around preventing a potential modification that would allow verifiers to review the votes of their fellow verifiers to increase the rewards they receive from voting points. The proposal is still in its early stages and is not yet ready for a vote. It is understood that Max was previously a core researcher at Ethereum and later transferred to the Anza team of Solana’s core development company.
