HashFlare co-founders Sergei Potapenko and Ivan Turogin pleaded guilty to conspiracy to wire fraud as part of a plea deal with U.S. authorities. Under the agreement, Potapenko and Turogin agreed to abandon digital assets frozen by U.S. authorities in 2022 and help ensure no users suffered financial losses. HashFlare was closed in 2019, Potapenko and Turogin were arrested in Estonia in 2022 and extradited to the United States in May 2024.
