Britain sentenced criminal sentence for the first time for unregistered encryption activity

GuShiio.com has learned that the UK Financial Supervisory Authority (FCA) has announced that London resident Olumide Osunkoya was sentenced to four years in prison for operating an unregistered cryptocurrency automatic teller machine (ATM) between December 2021 and March 2022, involving transactions of 2.5 million pounds (approximately US$3.2 million). Osunkoya was also convicted of forging identity documents and possessing criminal property. This is the first time that a criminal sentence has been imposed in the UK for unregistered encryption activity.
