On March 2, BYD joined hands with DJI to release the intelligent vehicle-mounted drone system “Lingkite”. At the same time, the Equation Leopard 8 drone version equipped with the “Lingkite” fast-charging version was officially launched, with a price of 395,800 to 423,800 yuan. This new car integrates the technologies of the three major domestic brands of BYD, DJI and Huawei. In addition to the “Lingyuan” intelligent vehicle-mounted drone system, it is also equipped with a DMO electric drive off-road platform and Huawei Gankun Intelligent Driving ADS 3.0.

“At this stage, most consumers ‘awareness of car intelligence focuses on smart driving and smart cabins, but we have equipped smart drone systems on cars, allowing the boundaries of travel experience to once again break through the imagination of space.” When talking about the original intention of launching vehicle-mounted drone products, Wang Chuanfu, chairman and president of BYD Group, said.

According to Yang Dongsheng, senior vice president of BYD Group and president of the Automotive New Technology Research Institute, the “Lingyuan” intelligent vehicle-mounted drone system integrates “advanced architecture, advanced hardware, and advanced algorithms” using the world’s first smart apron solution. Multiple hardware such as drone positioning module, roof camera, and customized dual-use handle can not only realize dynamic take-off and landing, one-click return to cabin, and intelligent follow-up, but also realize automatic and fast charging.

According to the plan, in addition to Formula Leopard 8, it will also cover multiple brands and models owned by BYD. Among them, the “Lingkite” power-changing version is mainly carried on the Yangwang brand, and the “Lingkite” fast-charging version is mainly carried on BYD Dynasty, Ocean, Tengshi, and Equation Leopard. Among them, the first models of the “Lingkite” intelligent vehicle-mounted drone system include six models including Tengshi N9, Tang L, Sea Lion 07 DM-i, Equation Leopard Leopard 5 and Equation Leopard Titanium 3.

Building an independent and multi-scenario ecosystem has become an important means for technology giants to continue to gain leading market positions; while intelligent connected vehicles, as the mobile vehicle most closely related to consumers ‘daily lives, have become the best carrier and entrance of the intelligent ecosystem.

At the launch conference of Xiaomi SU7 a year ago, Lei Jun, chairman of Xiaomi Group, demonstrated the huge potential of ecological development by closely integrating Xiaomi SU7 with Xiaomi ecological products. According to Wang Chuanfu, BYD has reached strategic cooperation with a number of technology companies to create a number of technologies and products, and work together to build a smart car ecosystem. “For example, we and OPPO have jointly opened up a new experience of mobile phone interconnection for Tengshi z9GT users. The cooperation with Huawei Gankun Intelligent Driving has made Formula Leopard 5 and Leopard 8 more powerful. We have also opened up Huawei, Xiaomi, Glory, Samsung, Apple, OPPO, vivo and other manufacturers to fully popularize the functions of mobile phones, NFC, and car keys. We also cooperate with companies in various fields such as Tencent and Uber to bring users a lot of interesting technological experiences.” Wang Chuanfu said.

The latest production and sales express shows that in February, BYD’s new energy passenger car sales were 318233 units, a year-on-year increase of 161.39%. Among them, 67025 passenger cars were sold overseas, 304673 were sold by BYD Automobile Dynasty and Ocean; 4942 were sold by Formula Leopard Automobile; 8513 were sold by Tengshi Automobile; and 105 were sold by Wangwang Automobile.
