Rodney Hood appointed acting commissioner of the currency

GuShiio.com learned that FOX reporter Eleanor Terrett tweeted that the U.S. Treasury Department announced that Rodney Hood, former chairman of the U.S. Credit Union Administration (NCUA), has served as acting director of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency effective today. Hood has expressed support for cryptocurrencies and believes it is crucial to credit cooperatives and the overall financial services market. It is worth noting that the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) Interpretative Letter No. 1179 still requires national banks not to participate in cryptocurrency-related business without approval, which is regarded as the final obstacle for financial institutions to participate in cryptocurrency custody and related activities. Cryptocurrency executives, including Coinbase chief legal officer Paul Grewal, said they expected the guidance to be withdrawn soon.
