GuShiio.com has learned that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced the establishment of the Cyberspace and Emerging Technologies Division (CETU) to combat internet-related misconduct and protect retail investors from criminals in the emerging technology space. CETU is led by Laura D Allaird and replaces the original Crypto Assets and Networks division. This focuses on issues such as fraud using emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, takeovers of retail brokerage accounts, fraud involving blockchain technology and crypto-assets.
